Door frame is split and the door won't latch
A door that won't latch after the jamb splits almost always needs the strike-side jamb repaired, not a new door. The latch has nothing to catch because the strike plate screws tore out of the jamb and the wood behind them. If the jamb still feels rigid against the wall, a reinforced strike plate and 3-inch screws fix it in an hour. If the frame flexes away from the wall when you push the latched door, the framing behind the jamb is damaged and needs a carpenter.
